Reading these before I figure out how to drive this weekend (the running joke in San Diego is that our skills go out the window when it begins to pour):
- “7 Things You Must Know Before Traveling Solo,” By Liz Weiss, US News & World Report – Savvy tips and tricks for international travel, whether you’re heading over solo or not. I’m included in this piece too, which is pretty cool. Read on for my tips on meeting people, padding your itinerary with time to (inevitably) getting lost and more.
- “A Look at Korea’s Culture from the Bathhouse,” By Jodi Kantor, New York Times – Here in the States, Korean skincare and beauty is on the rise. My introduction to their industry’s extensive research, development and multi-step processes come from this 2014 piece Jodi Kantor. Her narrative is informative, descriptive and will make you LOL, as I did a few years ago and now as I revisit the piece.
- “Iconic American Landscape Photos, Recreated as Junk Food,” The New Yorker – Growing up, Mom told you not to play with your food. If Mom only knew Fruit Loops and other sugary junk could look this good as these photos, she may have said otherwise.

Weekend Reads is an almost/kind of/occasionally-weekly series on The Curious Passport and features a round-up of travel news, features and other related links (probably related to food, fitness or the outdoors) I’ve either found around the internet or has been sent my way by friends and family.
