
The Curious Passport is a personal lifestyle platform informed by my background as a professional travel and food writer, and is distinct from my reported work.
I’m San Diego-based freelance writer Ligaya Malones, and my work has appeared in print and online for Condé Nast Traveler, Lonely Planet, Bon Appétit, San Diego Magazine, Salt & Wind, Time Out, and more. I started The Curious Passport in 2016.
In 2022, I paused publishing to The Curious Passport to focus on my first book and the San Diego dining scene at-large for The Infatuation. San Diego Cooks published in 2024 by Figure 1 Publishing.
I relaunched the blog in late 2025 with a focus on immersive experiences from my home in Southern California and beyond.
