Reporting from Guatemala, 2026

June 2026:

The Curious Passport is moving to a quarterly travel newsletter later this summer.

I started this blog in 2014 (2015?) as a way to kick-start a freelance travel writing career and workshop the stories I wanted to tell.

It took me a while to get started, and 10+ years of incredibly hard work (including an overwhelming amount of rejection) later, I’m proud of the stories I’ve had the opportunity to share in publications like Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Bon Appétit Magazine, Lonely Planet, Adventure.com, San Diego Magazine, New York Magazine and more.

As I painstakingly built my portfolio year after year, I even came across an opportunity to publish a book. It took me (and an entire team of collaborators) five years to bring it to the world. San Diego Cooks published in 2024. During that time, I took a step back from freelance writing.

Now, I’m back to freelance writing and pursuing travel stories around the world again.

Soon, I’ll launch transition my little corner of the internet into a quarterly(ish) newsletter. It will expand on what drew me to travel storytelling in the first place—a curiosity for life’s deliciousness. It’s about the food (always), the people and places that make our world unique.

Learn more about it, and sign up before Issue 001 launches later this summer.
